Dining on our island is as varied as our topography. We have some favorites to share with you and look forward to hearing your favorites.

Breakfast Places and  Cafés

Island Lava Java

100% kona coffee drinks, cinnamon buns, fresh fruit filled papaya and all kinds of eggs. Located across from the seawall coconut grove center 75-5801 Ali’i Drive

The Coffee Shack

Amazing views over the tress of  the coffee you will be drinking. Eggs Benedict, fresh pastry’s and papaya dishes.  It’s a drive but worth it! Ocean side of Highway 11, one mile south of the Captain Cook Post Office.

Frenchman’s Cafe

Frenchman’s Cafe is a quaint little place with french press coffee and amazing crepes located up a little breeze way called Kona Marketplace at 75-5729 Ali’i Drive in town.

Tea-licious

Tea-licious Cafe another little place with fine coffee, teas, gourmet sandwiches, salads  and amazing pastries. 75-159 Lunapule Rd, at Walua Rd.

Lunch and ‘To Go”

Poke

Poke – Umeke’s “to go” casual at 75-143 Hualalai Road at Kuakini Ave is our favorite. Try a poke plate on your oceanfront lanai watching sunset with a beverage of your choice. Just saying…

Plate Lunch – Broke Da Mouth Grindz very casual located in old industrial 74-5565 Luhia St at Kaiwi St.

Fish Sandwich

Fish Sandwich – Guinn’s Almost by the Sea -casual hole in the wall that is an institution best ono sandwich ever. Located at 75-5655 Palani Rd across from the King Kam Hotel.

Burgers and Fish Tacos

Burgers and Fish Tacos – Splashers Grill – Amazing ocean view location offering a casual burger (or taco) in paradise. Located where Alii becomes Palani across from the King Kam Hotel.

Local Brewery

Local Brewery – Kona Brewing Company Pub & Brewery – Good food – good beer- good fun. They do growlers! Old Industrial at 74-5612 Pawai Place.

Pu Pu’s (Appetizers) 

Local sunset tradition

Local sunset tradition mandates pu pu’s & a cold beverage with hope of seeing the green flash.

Don the Beachcomber

Don the Beachcomber Mai Tai Bar at the Royal Kona Resort – Pulled pork, coconut shrimp, seared ahi all in an oceanfront setting. Some nights they have music – 75-5852 Alii Drive just a short walk from Hale Kona Kai and Kona Reef.

Hugos on the Rocks

Hugos on the Rocks – Poke, ribs, soup and salads. Most nights they have music. Toes in the sand ocean side seating. 75-5824 Kahakai Rd just a stroll for Hale Kona Kai and Kona Reef.

Gertrude’s Jazz Bar

Gertrude’s Jazz Bar – Great food, music and dancing. Open air with amazing views. In town across from the seawall at 75-5699 Alii Dr.

Kona Inn Restaurant

Kona Inn Restaurant – (Not the Grill side which is good for lunch) Historic location with fine dinning – Macnut crusted mahi-mahi, stuffed ono, hula chicken all served oceanfront. Kona Inn Shopping Center 75-5744 Alii Dr..

Mi’s Waterfront Bistro

Mi’s Waterfront Bistro – Intimate oceanfront dining – local inspired Italian food. Oceanfront located at Waterfront Row upstairs 75-5770 Ali’i Drive.
