Kona Hawaii Whale Watching From Shore

kona hawaii whale watching

With a little patience and a good place to view the ocean from one can easily spot humpback whales from the shore of the Big Island during the winter months.
The best way to spot whales is by looking out for a big spout of water from the ocean surface. Keep your eyes on these spots and you’re likely to see some more whale action – especially along the North Kona, Kohala, and Hilo coasts.
If you’re looking for specifics, try Puukohola Heiau National Historic Site, Lapakahi State Historical Park and Kapa’a Beach Park – they’re known to have some pretty amazing whale sightings!

Wake up early to take advantage of the beautiful whale watching off the Big Island! Research shows that 8am is the prime time to spot whales, with a 50% higher success rate than afternoon. Plus, mornings are calmer and the ocean is more glassy for a better experience! Who’s ready to go whale watching on the Big Island?

                                                                         ______________________

Don’t miss out on the amazing experience of witnessing these incredible animals! Humpback Whales have a strong cultural value in Hawaii. The majestic creatures are thought to be symbolic of the Hawaiian god Kanaloa, who is the god of all ocean life! See for yourself why the whales are so amazing and revered.
